Strawberry Time!

At last, got the chance to sit down and enjoy the strawberry that 二姨 specially brought over from Japan.

Initially, Little Arielle still allows me to hold the strawberry for her. But it was not for long.

*Holding it for her!* - Uploaded on 28 Jan 2009

She insisted to hold it herself and I let her be. Her speed of eating is super fast. I was still eating my first strawberry and she is on her way to start on her third piece. In the end, she ate most of it which is about 5-6 of them! Oh mine, she is really a fan of strawberry. And of course, I must admit that it's because the strawberries are sweet. Else, she might not be eating at such a speed. Only trust fruits from Japan! They are amazingly nice!

Looking forward to taste Japan's honeydew again! This juicy melon can easily cost you $60-$80 in Singapore. Therefore, you can imagine its power!

平安符

MIL just popped into our room and passed me a 平安符 that she got from the temple. She asked me to put it in Little Arielle's pillow.

Just pray that Little Arielle would be a healthy and happy kid forever!

XP the Cook!

One of the merits that a man can have is that he can cook. It would be best if he can sew too. I am very proud to say that my man possesses the above 2 merits. Of course got more than that lah! So much so, I think I must have been a man in my last life and he must have been a woman, cos I can only cook a bit and please dun talk to me about sewing hee!

Anyway, the reason why I mention about the above is because XP cooked for me today. It has been more than 2 years since he last cooked. Cos when Little Arielle was born, we din really have time to do any cooking. Thereafter, when we shifted over to my PIL's place, we din wanna dirty their kitchen.

Today is an exception. He cooked mee suan for my breakfast and 蛋炒饭 for my dinner. Little Arielle was also enjoying her daddy's cooking.

XP's First Nail-Cutting Experience

Believe it or not, both of us had not got the chance to cut Little Arielle's nails eversince she was born. When she was young, we were afraid that we would hurt her. As such, this sacred task is always performed by mama. Since she has been tasked with this important role, it remained as her responsibility till date.

However, today is an exception as Little Arielle has broken one of her nails. As such, XP took up the challenge to cut it for her. Thank god that she is older now, she is able to take instructions. When we asked her to stay still, she listened and her nails were cut in a few moments' time!

An Erupting Tooth!

Had nothing to do and decided to check on Little Arielle's teeth. Got her to open her mouth and realised that her left molar is coming out. There's white patches among the red gum.

In addition, found an ulcer in her mouth too. Oh no, this spells trouble!

Jealousy!

Although Little Arielle does not have a sibling, she does get jealous when XP carries another kid.

This happens at my cousin's house this afternoon. Daddy was feeding her and XP happened to carry my cousin's 8 month old daughter. Immediately when Little Arielle saw that, she was so angry and started hitting her 婆婆 who was sitting directly in front of her.

Then she would stretch out her hands and ask XP to carry her and told him not to carry 妹妹.

XP told her to finish her rice and he would carry her. She quickly finished her food and ran to get her daddy to carry her! Hmm, what will happen if I have a second one? Or should I still keep her as my exclusive princess?

2nd Day of CNY

It's 初二 and that means more visiting to be done. But it would be not that tiring as compared to 初一 cos we have visited most of our relatives during the first day.

Went over to mama's place in the morning and we drove over to my 小叔's house with my cousin Shufen and husband.

Took the chance to take some pic over there!

$$ from the Sky!

Was sending my family back from my godmother's house. Just about to turn into mama's house's lift lobby when XP spotted something on the side of the road. Upon closer look, it's stack of ang pows and a pair of mandarin oranges. Without further questioning, WJ quickly got off the car, took everything and went back home.

Gave him a call and realised that there were really monies in those ang pows. He did a calculation and realised that it's about $280+. Whoever who dropped it is really careless!

Since we din know whose is that, in the end, WJ took $180+ and we only had $100. No wonder Little Arielle told XP that he is lucky. Well, to some extent, he is hee!

Hopefully, more luck in the Year of the Ox, best to win TOTO! Then Mummy Me no nid to slog like hell liaoz! The daydream starts again....

1st Day of CNY

It's 初一 which means Day 1 of CNY. This is gonna be a tiring day cos we have a lot of visiting to do! But because we slept late yesterday, it was difficult for us to wake up early. In the end, only woke up at 9am+. Oh no, gonna be very rush liaoz! But even though it's very rush, I still managed to take a pic of my little princess before we go out!

*All ready for ang pow collection!* - Uploaded on 28 Jan 2009

Got out of the house at 10am+ and first stop is of course at mama's house. From there, we made our way to 姑姑's house in Bedok. It has been a practise to have lunch at 姑姑's house and I can tell you, her dishes are superb. Even though it's all vegetarian dishes, the taste is simply delicious. This meal will always be something that I look forward to on 初一. After the sumptuous lunch, next stop would be at one of the relative's house. Took the chance to take a pic of Little Arielle with the willow in the background.

*Posing happily* - Uploaded on 28 Jan 2009

Thereafter, we proceeded to my granny's place in Yishun and last stop would be Ah 公's house. While we are in the lift to his house, WJ was complaining to me about Little Arielle. Here's the interesting conversation:

WJ to all: "她刚才在车上打我"
Mummy Me to LA: "Why did you beat 小舅?"
LA: "Because he naughty lor!"
ALL: *faintz*

Buay tahan her siaz! Anyway we reached Ah 公's house at about 4pm+ and everyone was dead beat. While we are in the liLittle Arielle was the only energetic one around. She only nap for about 30 minutes in the car and that's it! Alamak, how come she got unlimited power leh? We let the kids and my other aunties entertain her while we laze around to watch tv.

Soon it was time for dinner and it's gonna be steamboat! My favourite hee! Took a pic after the items were placed properly.

After dinner and resting for a while, we made a final, last stop to my godmother's house. Stayed there for an hour+ and thereafter, we sent my parents back* and home sweet home! What a tiring day....

*Hmm, just when we reached my parents' void deck, something caught XP's eyes. Check it out in the next post!

第一柱香

Eversince I known XP, we have been visiting "Si Ma Lu Kwan Inn Temple" to pray for good luck and health for the coming year. However, since the birth of Little Arielle, we had not been doing so.

As such, we decided to do it again this year! Reached the temple's vicinity at about 11.45pm and the devotees were all ready with their incenses.

*Everyone with their incenses high up in the air* - Uploaded on 27 Jan 2009

*Taken in front of the temple - best spot* - Uploaded on 27 Jan 2009

There were barriers set up and we were standing outside the barrier. Little Arielle was sitting over XP's shoulder and standing on the barrier. Little Arielle lost balance and XP quickly grabbed hold of her. In the end, he kena a balugu as he hit himself against the railing of the barrier. Alamak, what a gift before CNY!

Anyway, situation within the barrier is very tense as everyone is hoping to place the first incense into the burner. It's their belief that the first person to do so will get to have all the luck for the year. It's due to this belief that people around the world are practising it. And it's also because of this that there are people who are stamped to death as everyone is rushing to be the first!

I had the experience of being within the barrier when I was still pa-toring with XP. Couldn't remember which year that was. We weren't there to be the first cos we know that it is not possible. We were quite far back behind. While waiting to enter the temple, you can get ashes over your head and face as everyone around you is holding incense in their hands. You would be sweating like mad cos it's very packed and squeezy. Worst still, when one of the person in charge announced that you can enter the temple (when the clock strike 12), everyone will start pushing you. XP and I were actually standing next to each other. But when the pushing starts, I could see him no more! Scary man! Luckily, I'm not stamped to death and still alive to blog this down! Anyway, that is indeed an experience!

Boring Reunion Dinner!

It has been a few years since we last dined out for our Reunion Dinner. My MIL decided to go back to the previous lifestyle of eating out instead of cooking at home. As such, this year's Reunion Dinner would be taken at Sakura International Buffet Restaurant. We went to the one located in Balastier.

Reached there at about 5pm+ and there was a long queue outside the restaurant. My BIL was already queuing outside and I gotta know from him that they were queuing for payment first. His wife is already waiting inside the restaurant.

We went in and the only word to describe is "PACKED"! Not only it's packed, those people majiam din eat buffet before! The way they "snatched" for food just pissed me off! Worst still, they like to push here and there and made a mess on the buffet table. Really spoilt my appetite leh!

Not only them, Little Arielle was also irritating me. As usual, din wanna be in her high chair and wants to come down and walk. Everyone was busy eating and I was busy handling her. In the end, she was happily seated there cos she can eat her favourite ice-cream!

*Yippee, it's ice-cream time!* - Uploaded on 27 Jan 2009

XP took over so that I can have a peace of mind to eat my food. So I took the chance to take pic of them!

*Aiyo, get to eat ice-cream still give you the buay song look!* - Uploaded on 27 Jan 2009

The following is the only dish that I like there. The waiter will place the raw items on this hot plate. They will light up the "gel", pour some sauce over and covered it with a cover. I am supposed to bring it back to my table and wait for the items to be cooked. Simply loved the process cos firstly, I dun have to squeeze with others to "snatch" for food and secondly, it's enjoyable to wait for your food to be cooked. You can smell the aroma of the food! The only disadvantage is that there are only a few pieces of miserable seafood on the plate. There is only 1 prawn, 1 scallop, 1 clam, 1 crabstick and some mushroom and veg. So it is impossible to be full just eating 1 plate!

*My miserable hot plate!* - Uploaded on 27 Jan 2009
So while waiting for the food to be cooked, I continued taking pics....

*Aiyah, naughty girl not looking at camera again!* - Uploaded on 27 Jan 2009

Finally, my items are done! Tada!

*Yummy food!* - Uploaded on 27 Jan 2009

Anyway, the morale of the story is - dun eat buffet during Reunion Dinner! You will vomit bloodz leh!

Spring Cleaning Part 2

Mummy Me managed to clean the bathroom and we are quite done cos majority part of the spring cleaning has been completed during part 1! So there will not be any part 3!

And cleaning this time was a breeze cos Little Arielle was busy playing with her 爷 爷 and 奶奶 and couldn't be bothered with us.

XP was not feeling well so he was fast asleep. Hmm, also good lah else got someone looking over your head can be quite stressful too!

Looking forward to a good Year of the Ox!

New Sandals Found!

Mama has been nagging me for the longest time to get a new pair of sandals for Little Arielle. Aiyah, sometimes, when you wanna get something, you just simply couldn't find it. When you least expected it, it would appear in front of you.

This is what happened in our case. XP was shopping around for a pair of jeans as his CNY clothes. What a last minute shopping spree! Managed to get a pair at Giordano in Ang Mo Kio Hub. I tagged along to get one pair too cos there would be 40% discount for 2 items and above. After we met the purpose of this shopping trip, we walked around for a while and chanced upon this sweet looking pair of sandals at Cerisi. It only costs us $9.90 and we decided to get it.
Yippee! Finally found an ideal pair of sandals for her. Another pair of shoes for CNY! What a perfect timing!

Back to the Old School Days!

There was a CNY lunchtime sale in my office. As such, I went down with Feli to check it out.

Hmm, din know that they sell the following board games that I played when I was young.

*Snake & Ladder (Mummy Me's all time favourite) + 跳飞机* - Uploaded on 27 Jan 2009

I was so excited that I bought it cos I wanted to play with Little Arielle and let her know that the world is not just about computers and electronic products.

At times, such board games can also instill a lot of fun!

Little Nyonya aka 小娘惹

Little Arielle just want to doll up like Little Nyonya. So XP helped her by wrapping her blanket around her waist!

Little Arielle just seems to have difficulties remembering this 3-sided shape i.e. triangle. She always thought that triangle is rectangle. They look the same meh??

I Want a Haircut!

Mama told me that she was surprised that Little Arielle requested for a haircut. Aiyo, she also knows how to be pretty for CNY leh!

Think she will grow up being a vainpot!

A Little Nuisance - At Times!

Was trying to have a tiny-winny bit of my own time and was greatly disturbed by Little Arielle. She would come and try to irritate you until you cannot help but will scold her.

I guessed this is one way to attract attention??

Some Improvements!

At last, some improvements shown after teaching Little Arielle for the past 2 days. Since she has performed well and remembered the shapes, I shall reward her by reading "Cinderalla" to her!

Story time, Little Arielle!

It's Pizza Day!

Dinner is not provided today as Daddy needs to work. As such, we decided to eat out since I have some errands to run.

Managed to retrieve my email and printed out my Pizza Hut birthday voucher and we decided to settle our dinner there since it has been a while since I last ate pizza. Asked mama and WJ to tag along too. So 4 of us + 1 Little Arielle proceeded to Pizza Hut in Tampines Mall for our dinner.
